Via a balanced blend of well-implemented movie snippets and real-time cutscenes we learn that the ice age is at its end, but that melting snow threatens to drown the landscape in water if the unlikely gang of heroes can't first do something about it. And indeed, it may even satisfy some older players - we certainly found ourselves involved with some of the gameplay quests and laughing at some of the adventure's humorous situations.īack to the Ice Age Ice Age 2: The Meltdown follows the general storyline found in the movie of the same name, which means that players will go back to prehistoric times to meet such likeable characters as Manny the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the smilodon. Rather, development studio Eurocom has delivered a conventional if not sometimes-simple platformer whose intuitive controls, colorful style, and smart use of the movie license will suit young players just fine. Thankfully, Ice Age 2 is not one of these games.

We could - but won't - point to countless publishers that continue to unleash exactly these types of games onto the market, knowing full well that unsuspecting buyers will pick them up expecting the best. But worse, it's also a so-called "kids' game," which too often means that very little effort was applied in an attempt to make the final product very playable or, for that matter, particularly pretty. After all, this is a game that is based on a movie license, which almost always translates to an end experience that is sub-par, to put it mildly.

I saved again.Ice Age 2: The Meltdown from publisher Vivendi Universal should, according to the rules of statistics, be shovelware, which is the impolite way of describing software that is simply not worth anybody's attention.

Even more, Sid's damage is that his stomach is exposed, which disturbed me but I still played. I killed some dodos and other enemies, and jumped on platforms.

I then learned dandelions give you 5 points and watermelons give you 10 points. This was the part where Sid the Sloth does the evicerator jump challenge. I was Sid the Sloth in that level and the floor is white, and there is an ocean like background. Eventualy over the time, killing dodos and aardvarks and glyptodons and jumping on floating platforms, I passed level one.

I walk to it and it restores my health, and the skin and hair is back on Manny. Then, I see what looks like an actual bloody heart pumping. DISTURBING! After the aardvark attacked Manny, some of Manny's skin came off and showed what looked like his rib cage, shoulder bone, and his right lung.

I just let the Aardvark attack me to see what that was like. COME ON BOI! THIS IS AN ICE AGE VIDEO GAME! Then, an Aardvark tries to attack me with its long tongue. I was shocked to see this in an ICE AGE video game. What disturbed me was that when I attacked the dodo, there was blood and organs. I press random buttons and I figured X means jump and SQUARE means trunk attack. I then walk forward and collect icons that look like acorns, and then, a dodo tries to jump on me and bite me. You play as Manny the Mammoth, obviously. The enviornment was an ongoing wall of an ice glacier for the background, and the ground was beigh, like it was supposed to be dirt. After this, I was getting suspicious, but I played anyway. I heard Syntax makes video games that do not get licensed. It had the regular PS1 logo, and had the logo of Syntax. I played it on my PlayStation 3 in my living room. Little did I suspect, but this was a B.A.D. I was suspicious at first, but then I decided to get it because I am an Ice Age fan. From what I know, the PS1 discontinued in 2005, and there were no Ice Age video games for PS1. One day I was at a video game store and saw an ICE AGE 2 the meltdown for PS1. The game was released for PC, PlayStation 2, Gamecube, and Nintendo DS. You know the 2006 video game ICE AGE 2 the meltdown? It is based on the movie Ice Age 2.
